About this Condiment: The version of date syrup I make, is very delicious and healthy, it is a perfect sugar substitute for daily use as well as to be used in cooking and baking or whenever you need to use sugar. The fact that we can replace such a healthy and natural sweet syrup instead of sugar which is number one cause of fat accumulation and growth of cancerous cells in body is great enough but the great factors of this wonderful syrup is not limited to this; Researches found that consuming date syrup has antibacterial actions against number of disease caused by bacteria including Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli.   • 1 kg Seedless DatesWashed
  • 7/5 cups water

  1. Pour the water in a cooking pot as well as the dates. Place it under the high temperature and bring to boil.

  2. Once it starts to simmer, reduce the heat to low and let it to simmer for about 40 to 45 minutes.

  4. Now it is time to separate the syrup from the dates. For this use a cheese cloth and a big bowl. Place the cheese cloth over the bowl and pour the content  inside the cheese cloth.

  5. Keep pressing it until all the water is separated from the dates.

  6. Pour back the separated syrup again in the pot and place it uncovered under the medium to low heat and let the liquid start to thickening;

  7. Keep mixing it once in a while.

  8. As soon as it starts to thickening, it is time to remove it from the heat and let is cool down. Remember once this syrup is cooled the thickness is more.

  9. Keep the syrup in glass jar in room temperature and use it.

Recipe Notes

1 KG of dates is Approx. 5 cups and for each cup of date we must use 1/5 cup of water so for a 5 cups of dates we use 7/5 cups of water.
