Crunchy outside, soft & cheesy inside, these super easy & delicious edible ornaments are a perfect choice as a Christmas appetiser or your party snack.
To make this yummy and beautiful edible Christmas Ornaments, you need:
To make the Ornaments:
5 potatoes, 1 egg, 2 tbsp fermented wheat flour, 5 to 6 cubes Mozzarella cheese, 1/5 cup of crushed vermicelli, 1/2 tsp black pepper powder, food colouring (yellow, green, blue & red or any of your favourite colour), salt to taste
To make the Ornaments top you need:
1/3 cup of plain flour, 1 tsp oil, water
The Method to make the ornaments top first:
Create a small dough by mixing the flour, water & oil. Add the water & oil as you knead until you have a dough. Add water a bit at a time, once you have the dough stop adding water.
cover the dough & let it rest for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes uncover the dough, take small pieces of dough start rolling the dough into narrow strings. Connect the ends together creating a drop shape.
Heat the oil in small pan & pan fry the drop shape tops until golden both sides. Once they are golden, keep them in a towel paper & set aside.
The Method to make the Ornaments:
Divide the vermicelli into 4 parts in 4 bowls (do more divisions if you use more colours). Add a different colour inside each bowl and mix well. Spread each bowl over a paper towel sheet to dry; if you don’t spread them they will dry sticking together inside the bowl so spread them so they dry up.
Bake the potatoes & peel them off. Mash them & add the fermented wheat flour in it, add black pepper powder as well; Separate the egg yolk & white; beat the egg white lightly & set aside; add the egg yolk to the potato; add salt & mix until its all mixed & smooth.
Start making ornament balls from the potato paste with your hands. Make a whole in the middle of the balls and place the cheese cube inside in the middle of the ball & carefully close the ball. Make all the ornaments until the potato finishes.
Roll up the ornaments into the egg white & then roll them over the coloured vermicelli. Do the same to each ornament with different colours of vermicelli.
Heat the oil in frying pan & fry the ornaments until they turn crunchy & golden. Once all sides fried remove them on a paper towel & insert the ornaments tops carefully inside the balls & here you have delicious crunchy as well as soft & cheesy Christmas ornaments appetiser and a party snack.
